Duwamish:
A Story of a River
The Duwamish river has been an integral and highly manipulated component of Seattle’s landscape; Seattle was built on Duwamish tribal land, obtained by an unfulfilled treaty, and the Port of Seattle was carved directly into the river. Today, the river is a superfund site, receiving governmental funding to monitor and reduce its pollution. This Project, as a part of my undergrad BFA, focused on the unseen damage from this river’s history and our cultural amnesia of it all.
